Blue Christmas

Join us for a service of quiet reflection this Christmas

A ‘Blue’ Christmas? Yes, blue as in “I am feeling blue.” For some people the holidays are not a cheery, fun time. They might be dealing with the death of a loved one, struggling with illness, coping with the loss of a job, going through a divorce or separation, or any number of challenging life situations. Not everyone is thrilled with jovial parties and lots of bright lights and noise during this season. There are those who just need some sacred space where they can quietly recognize the importance of the Christmas season.

This is a special service that may not be for everyone, but will certainly touch the hearts of those who want to “be still and know God” and gently celebrate the glory of Christ’s birth. It is a service of soft music, low lights, scripture, candles, prayer, and a special time to reflect. It is a service that seems to touch the soul deeply and heal some of the pain. Ironically, it is held on the longest night of the year — Winter Solstice. Out of this deepest darkness of grief and loss, it becomes a turning point for the days to begin to gain more light with the knowledge that Jesus Christ truly is the Light of the World.

If this is the type of service you need to refocus your spirit after all the business of the holiday season, please join us at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Also, if you are aware of others in our community who have gone through a difficult time this year or who could use this time to center themselves in the Lord, please be sure to invite them to attend. This can be a powerful life-changing time as we remember together that silent, holy night so long ago.
